The European Knowledge Test (EKT) is a novel assessment tool designed by European experts in medical education. The EKT was planned to comprehensively cover all relevant aspects of basic and clinical sciences as well as behavioral sciences and statistics. The difficulty of the test and cutscoring procedures have been tailored at the knowledge level European students should have at the time just prior to receiving the Doctor of Medicine (or equivalent) degree. The EKT is currently available in English and consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, each with one best answer accepted as correct. The EKT provides rich feedback to the students according to clusters, disciplines, task-oriented competencies and system-based categories using an online interactive graphical report.
