Prof. Anselme Derese is a professor of family medicine and medical education and the Head of the Skillslab and the Center for Education Development at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Ghent University (Belgium). He has a long experience in developing training for family medicine in Flanders (the Dutch speaking part of Belgium). He has guided doctoral students on PhDs related to portfolio learning, skills training, communication and end of life care in family medicine. He has been involved in setting up skills training in Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Cambodia and Vietnam and in developing family medicine training in South-Africa and Vietnam. Since 1979 Anselme Derese works as a family physician in the Community Health Center Botermarkt in Ledeberg. He is an active member of The Network: Towards Unity for Health and the Training for Health Equity Network.
