“Assessment in the Age of Intelligent Machines”

Dramatic shifts in technology are changing the way we learn and practice healthcare. In our clinics and operating rooms systems and tools that employ artificial intelligence are augmenting and altering the work of human health professionals. The implications for teaching and assessing competence are profound.

At the same time, automation and artificial intelligence/machine learning are also transforming the practice of assessment itself. From machine-generated questions to natural language processing for exam scoring, there are many technological opportunities ahead. This talk will stimulate educators to consider how education practices and research must adapt for assessment in the age of intelligent machines.
