Paradigms in Assessment

Each year the European Board of Medical Assessors (EBMA) Conference is a much-valued opportunity for those involved in assessment in medical education to meet, learn, and share their experiences.

We would like to invite you to come to Helsinki from the 10th – 12th of November, 2022.

This year’s keynote and plenary speakers include:

  • Prof. Cees van der Vleuten “Three paradigms in assessment: where are you?”
  • Prof. Chris Watling “Reconsidering formative assessment: Time for a new approach?”
  • Prof. Eeva Pyörälä “Sustainable Assessment in Health Professions Education”
  • Prof. Anne Nevgi & Dr. Terhi Karaharju-Suvanto “Academics’ emotions related to assessment”

The conference is aimed at all those interested in research in the field of health sciences education: teachers and researchers from Higher Education Institutions, specialization and postgraduate advisers, health professionals, students and researchers.

Its objectives are:

  • to promote research in assessment in the area of health sciences education
  • to stimulate and facilitate networks and partnerships
  • to promote the sharing of research in this field of knowledge

 

Program Overview

The Conference will consist of:

  • Keynotes with Q&A panel
  • Symposium and workshops in various areas, including programmatic assessment and work-place based assessment with Q&A panel
  • Academic short presentations & posters with Q&A panel

 

CME Credits

We are pleased to confirm that our 2022 EBMA Annual Conference has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 14 European CME credits (ECMEC®s).

A breakdown of CME credits for each day of the conference can be found below:

10th November – 5 CME credits
11th November – 7 CME credits
12th November – 2 CME credits

Conference Venue

Biomedicum 1, Haartmaninkatu 8, 00290 Helsinki.

Biomedicum 1 is located in Meilahti Hospital Campus of University of Helsinki, Faculty of Medicine.
Biomedicum 1 houses many of the teaching, meeting and research facilities of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki.

The abstract submission deadline for posters and short presentations has been extended to the 30th September!

For workshop submissions, the deadline of 15th September still applies.
